About

Alex Biss is Founder and Director of Vineyard Check and a Doctoral Researcher in Crop Science at the University of Reading. His research is focused on cool climate viticulture. Alex has published several research papers in leading viticulture journals and served as a reviewer for Nature Scientific Reports.

 

Alex holds a BA (Hons) in Geography, an MSc with Distinction in Geographical Information Systems, and an MPhil in Polar Studies from the Scott Polar Research Institute, University of Cambridge, where he studied sedimentology and climate change of the last 10,000 years. His undergraduate dissertation focused on heavy metal contamination of soils near a disused lead and silver mine, and he previously worked as a technician in a soils laboratory.

He is also Co-Founder and Managing Editor of ESG Investing. ESG Investing is a global media platform for listed corporations and fund managers, as well as research, rating and software providers who are focused on sustainable and impact investing.
